The Mysterious Benedict Society

I am currently reading the most intriguing book ever. I mean, yes, I have a few favorites (favorites=re-read books about a million times and I still enjoy them) such as Tales of Goldstone Wood, the Artemis Fowl series, Princess for Hire (which I learned, MUCH to my delight, is turning into a series!), Into the Woods and it's sequel Out of the Woods....and one I'm sure will be a favorite, The Ugly Duckling, a play written by A. A. Miln, which I am going to read real soon.
But I had heard a tremendous raving from a friend about The Mysterious Benedict Society. I promised I would check it out from the library.
Lo and behold, hardly an hour later, my sister calls me up.
"Hey, I found a book on Amazon with tremendous ratings. Everybody loves it! I thought maybe Sam would like it. It's called The Mysterious Benedict So--"
"YOU'RE KIDDING ME!!"
"..........what?"

She wound up getting it since I told her someone else had loved it.
So I noticed Sam reading it about a week back. I got a tad curious yesterday, finally, and started reading it. You know, just finding out why Sam HADN'T PUT IT DOWN.
He would still be reading it this very minute, quoting from it for me.
If he could get back from me.

"Okay, I get it. You love this book. Isn't there anything in this post that's REALLY about the book?"

I can hear you, oh yes. In fact, I am getting a little impatient myself, so here is the synopsis from the book.

"ARE YOU A GIFTED CHILD LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?"
When this peculiar ad appears in the newspaper, dozens of children enroll to take a series of mysterious, mind-bending tests. (And you, dear reader, can test your wits right alongside them.) But in the end just four very special children will succeed. Their challenge: to go on a secret mission that only the most intelligent and resourceful children could complete. With their newfound friendship at stake, will they be able to pass the most important test of all?
WELCOME TO THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY.

How does all that sound? For some reason, it makes me think of Emma...ya know, just a little thinking involved in the book, is why.
I wish I could write out the first chapter to you right now. But I don't think I should. I think you should get it from the library yourself.

Goodbye, Tree...

Did you make any resolutions for the New Year? I haven't really, except I'm trying to get myself to post more pictures...

*sniff* Tomorrow we are taking down our Christmas tree. :( when on earth was the last time I posted a SAD face??

But many things have happened, and/or will happen that I'm so happy about, so I can't stay sad about our tree for TOO long (Goodbye, Tree...)
From the author (authoress, perhaps?) that I've been raving on and on about, the one and only Anne Elisabeth Stengl, I have won yet another book from her! That makes two books I've won in five months...I was very happy, I love her books!!
I figured out how to do a link, finally, so click on Anne Elisabeth's name and it'll bring you to her blog, where she is currently doing a Christmas Read-A-Long, which, sadly, is ending soon since it is no longer Christmas and her book is also ending.
So check out her blog, y'all, and please tell me if you do! (Emma you MUST read her books...I'll lend you her third book when you get back, if you want. I don't think you have to read them in order.)
(Clara, did you notice the Fan Art Contest on Anne Elisabeth's blog? You and 'Anna's' picture are on there! :) And I'm so glad you won Starflower!!!!!!!)
Speaking of Clara, you should see her as Una from Anne Elisabeth's books. If you scroll through the rest of the submissions, you'll see more of her! Isn't she gorgeous?!

Cheerio and Clara, I'm determined to meet up with you at least next week. We can't have my Christmas gift to you come way too late after Christmas is long over! (text me maybe, okay?)

Happy New Year!

Here I am, listening to Hawaii Five-O (LOVE THAT THEME), realizing, "I haven't posted in a while."
Deciding that today was the possibly the best day of all to post, I sat down and....well, you know the rest.
So HAPPY NEW YEARS everyone! We're all still alive in 2013!
Here's a few highlights from 2012:

Christmas! I love giving out gifts to people; it thrills me to see how much they'll enjoy their presents. Christmas is ALWAYS a highlight for me.

Having the whole family down for the holidays, plus some. Our family has grown!!

Watching Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time. Johnny Depp, you're awesome.
(Do you know why the raven is like a writing desk?)

Summer!! So many things happened! It was SO fun having Rhiannon down and having Stephanie's family down too.

Getting a Sproles jersey for Christmas. Booyah.

Winning a free autographed book from a favorite author...twice!

Meeting Robert Patrick at the World War II Museum in New Orleans (I still call it the D-Day Museum...)

Meeting Maximus, Stephanie and Dan's dog (a coton, said 'ka-tawn')

Hope y'all had a good one!
Cheerio and again, Happy New Years!
