these are a few of my favorite things

The cold has come. To say the least, none of us are enjoying it very much. And while I was grumbling about it being winter, I suddenly could think of a dozen upsides...

Operation Christmas Child.
one of my favorite times of the year.

-

Leftover on-sale halloween candy!
 CANDY CORN.

-

Fires//s'mores.

-

Hot chocolate.

-

ginger cookies.

-

Christmas.

-

Christmas shopping!

And while I said I could think of a dozen things, I only meant seven. My favorite number.

Your favorite thing about winter?

wake me up when september ends

 "Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends..."

It feels like summer has flown by too fast. I waited all winter for summer, and it's fall now! Not that I mind so much because I love fall fashion...
We had a very busy year this year: my sister and sister-in-law went to Europe for six weeks, and my parents also went for three weeks. My brother and his family live in Germany, so they visited him for a bit before everywhere else. Was I jealous? I still am. Not my fault, they were the ones sending those awfully gorgeous pictures of Paris and Italy...
Then we spent all of August in various bits of Florida. My dad teaches at prisons, so we usually go spend a couple weeks in some campground.

I've been dismally absent from the social media, not to mention I haven't been being very social offline either. I'm pretty sure I've missed some great posts from other bloggers, but I'm determined to keep up...during the winter, anyway. No telling where summer takes us.
During the time I've been gone, I've spent netflixing. Sorry not sorry. I've been fangirling over Marvel more recently- If you haven't, you need to see their latest movies. Actually, you need to see all of them. They are amazing. Marvel is amazing.

And speaking of fangirling, the Twelfth Doctor of Doctor Who came out weeks ago and he is as sooo good. I know some people have complained that he's older, and that bugs me. (I may start ranting anytime soon) I mean seriously, most of the previous Doctors are way older than 12! I think it's good to show others that it's not all about the age and their good looks, but about the personality. It doesn't matter how old you are, it matters what and who you are.
Anyway, that's just what I think. Bleh. But seriously, 12 is amazing. He reminds me of the previous three Doctors sometimes.

There's nothing too interesting I post about, and I guess that's why I don't post so much, so I'm trying to figure out what's something that I can actually keep the blog running with.
Song suggestions? Book suggestions? I've tried doing movie/book reviews, but I'm just not cut out to write that. Bleh.

Oh well. Happy End of September, my friends. Catch you on the flipside.

poor little blog

Poor little blog,
All alone and forgotten.
Do not worry little blog,
I am not completely rotten!
For look, I am back,
No more worries for you!
Unless of course, I leave again,
Then I would be terrible too.

In the meantime, I want to say
How sorry I am
That I am not here to stay.
But I will come back,
Yes, I will come back someday.
You will not be forgotten again, no,
For now my promises are better kept
Than all the times gone past
When I promised poor little blog
That my leaving would not last.

When I think of something good to say
I will be back in a flash!
But for now I must say goodbye,
And for now I must dash...
The pizza's here.

the little things in the world

ah...as much as I miss summer and want it back, there's no better feeling on a cold day than reading Shakespeare aloud in my bedroom with background music, hot chocolate, and oreos after school and a failed attempt at singing Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl'. Oh well. At least I can rap. ...?

And so, I also bring you news of the play I auditioned for. I got a part in the ensemble, with one line to myself (I'D GIVE IT ALL TO CHARITY!) and a line with everyone else (NOO COMMENT!)
But...my sister Rachel got the lead! She's very happy.
I'm extremely excited because basically what I want to do in life is work onset/backstage in theatres and movies. So I went up to the director and told her I still would love to be in the play, but I would LOVE to work backstage if she needs me.
And she got this happy expression and said she'd keep a note of that, because I guess she needs all the help backstage because everyone else likes acting. Not that I blame them, but how many of them are going to ask to work backstage as well? So yeah, part of my life dream is coming true. :)

     ---

I must return to my music and reading, so I bid you goodbye.

and she lives...

Hiya. How are you? Any resolutions that haven't been broken yet?

Well, so far...I learned that my favorite doctor from Doctor Who is going to the New Orleans Comic Con. THE ONE I'M GOING TO NEXT MONTH.
The ticket to take a picture with him is really ridiculous, like a hundred dollars, but I'm going to be the happiest person on earth to just see him and take a picture of him instead of with him (although I'm secretly hoping to accidentally find him somewhere walking around)
Yesterday I auditioned for a play! Results are supposedly coming out tomorrow...I'll update you on that.
The audition is where I met some Whovians. My sister and I basically had a heart attack when this one guy comes in with a Trust Me I'm A Doctor t-shirt. Then this girl goes up and she's wearing a Dalek t-shirt (an arch-enemy from Doctor Who. Well, monster/droid-like/bad-guy enemy. I just though that arch-enemy sounded cooler.)
So I met them proudly in my Doctor Who t-shirt. Yesterday and today. I went back to watch the other auditions and to talk to the ladies who are doing the play.

Um. I'm re-reading Mockingjay. I watched Catching Fire two weeks ago and OH MY GOODNESS it's like the book almost exactly. I was so excited because Catching Fire's one of my very favorite books. Best moments in the movie: when something happened, I quoted a line from the book and they said it in the movie. Boom.

Have any of y'all seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)? In the previous post I told you I'd seen it. Well, I really loved it. It's instilled the wanderlust in me more than ever. I just want to travel out of the country.
But. I'm going to Europe later this year. So I'll be okay.

What are you currently reading?

*inspiration*

There are going to be a few but big events--for me--happening next month.
My other blog is holding a short story contest that ends on Valentine's Day! I've gotten one story already, and I'm a little nervous as to how many I'll end up with. Well, give it time and a blog will get bigger!

New Orleans is having a Comicon!!!! Whew fangirling so hard over here. It's also next month, 7-9th of February. I'm going as Dauntless from the book 'Divergent' by Veronica Roth. My sister is going as a character named Penny from 'Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog' and I'll be going as the hero one day, Hammer.

Lately I've been feeling so inspired. My friend and sisters went with me to see 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty', which was really good. I'm not giving any major spoilers but Walter travels to a couple places and I'm just sitting there like, "yup, guys I'm going."
So I can't wait to be having yard sales, work, and Farmer's Market to earn money to travel. I tell people I'm too young now to travel all those places, but you can save up when you're younger. It will make all the difference when I'm older, I know.
I want to go to Machu Picchu, Peru, most of all. Ach. I went and read my brothers' blog they did from that 6-month motorcycling trip through South America. And then I went on Pinterest and looked at traveling pins. And then I went and counted my moneys.
Well, I'm not going anywhere now but I really want to.

You can come too.
